Wonderful time on Bellysketcher’s painting Workshop on Mini-mi Fashion week!
Kids loved it! A painting workshop for kids to get messy.
Bellysketcher’s painting workshop on Saturday was so, so much fun.
The event had just open doors and kids started entering. We began shyly trapped between Gymboree and Little Gym and in the end we owned the floor ;). Ink was everywhere, kids were completely uncontrollable ( in a very good way) and Art happened!
In the beginning kids draw small, next to their parents, listening to my every word.
They started to paint themselves as a small new born fox just arriving to its den.
Some of this kids were used to draw and paint , some, clearly weren´t. That was something that aghast me. Painting, is one of the major ways of expression that children use, probably sideways with body language. Children are much nonverbal then adults. If they are not using this to communicate, how can they express themselves.
After the new born foxes, draw with oil pastel, finally, they had the change to go for the ink. That was the moment when they got crazy with happiness.
Suddenly kids multiplied themselves. We were not a small group on the corner, we were a crowded spot in the middle of the warehouse. I gave them complete freedom. That was the perfect time not to have boundaries at all. Go on, make a mess!
After the first work of Art, was imperative to go for another. The problem was that, when I present them the second canvas, they were so excited and confident, that this one was finished right away. Next time, I know now, at least 3 big canvas, or a much bigger one. Always learning, after all, this was my first time, so you have to give me a break here.
The result was not important. I wanted them to feel happy, relaxed and confident expressing themselves. Anyway, the result turned out really good, don´t you think?
